Bergen County DPW Paints Crosswalks on Palisade Avenue
October 5, 2010
Mayor Gerald A. Calabrese
Borough of Cliffside Park
525 Palisade Avenue
Cliffside Park, NJ 07010
re: Pedestrian Safety CR27 – Palisade Avenue / Crosswalks.
Dear Mayor Calabrese,
I want to thank you and our City Councilors for once again forgoing "home rule" so that the Bergen County DPW can paint crosswalks along Palisade from the South to the North borders of town.
As you are aware the State passed a new law this past April 1,2010 that now requires motorist to come to a full STOP when pedestrians are in a crosswalk. Your actions today will make Palisade Avenue and the residents who live on both sides safer. In addition they will aide our Crosswalkers when our schools are in session.
In addition to thanking you all I want to thank Bergen County Director of DPW Tom Connolly, and the Administrator of Cliffside Park Joe Rutch and the Borough Clerk Sercan Zoklu for their calls and communications with our Neighborhood Action Group regarding this issue.
I look forward to working with you all on any future peojects that residents commnicate need addressing. It's great knowing you listen to our concerns and that the Mayors door is always open.
